Congratulations to the LSN Band! California, here we come!

The Lee’s Summit North Bronco Marching Band will be participating in the 2014 Hollywood Christmas Parade on November 30, 2014 in Hollywood, California. See the video for more info.

We will have an informational meeting on Monday, November 11 at 7:00 PM in the LSN PAC. It is strongly recommended that anyone who plans on traveling to LA be in attendance with a parent or guardian. A representative from Gateway Music Festivals, the travel company handling our trip, will be in town to talk about the trip and answer any general questions you may have.

Also…we have kicked off the first fundraiser for our students in grades 8-12. If you still owe band fees, or are trying to raise money to offset your trip costs, you can sell tickets to a Spaghetti Dinner to be held on Saturday, November 16 from 3:30-6:30 PM in the LSN Commons. Each $10 ticket sold earns you $5 profit, PLUS you can attend the LSN Fall Musical “Shrek” after dinner! Directors have handed out 8 tickets to each student. Students are responsible for tickets sold (bring the $$) or unsold tickets.

This is going to be AWESOME! I hope you are all “California Dreamin’”

We appreciate you all for your time and efforts as we welcome over 1000 band students to our campus this coming Saturday.

Saturday, Oct. 12: LSN Marching Invitational ALL DAY!
We will start setting up the campus at 8:00 AM. The first bands begin to arrive at around 10:30 AM. There will be a Google Drive Document for volunteer sign ups. We will be operating two event areas, including two concession stands. There are many other jobs that require volunteers to help keep things running smoothly. Please consider signing up for a couple hours to help.

The first week…and other stuff

We have completed our first week of school. The kids have been working really hard and are doing a great job.

We talked a little today about what it takes to really put on a great show, because what they really want deep inside is to be competitive. I don’t want them confusing being competitive with winning. “Winning” is totally in the hands of a subjective panel of human beings with opinions about what they like and don’t like. All we can do is to be as detail-oriented, focused, and prepared as possible. We will be right back on the lot tomorrow morning trying to reach this goal.

One last reminder: NO REHEARSAL TONIGHT!! Back To School night is from 6:30-8:00. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Camp Recap/Freshman Transition Day/Uniforms

Greetings from bandland! We hope everybody has had a restful week off from the hard work of band camp. As a staff, we couldn’t be prouder of the way you handled yourselves during the entire camp. We accomplished a lot musically and even taught a whole bunch of new folks some basics on movement. It only gets better from here on out!

Our next time together will be Monday, August 12 for Freshman Transition Day. Please meet in the band room at 6:45 AM in your summer uniform (same uniform you wore for the parent demonstration). We will perform the School Song and Fight Song (twice) and will then dismiss.

Upon dismissal, all upperclassmen that have yet to be fitted for a band uniform will need to get fitted. Arrangements have been made to have parent volunteers on hand to assist with the process in order to minimize your time spent in line. It would be helpful if you know that you can fit into last year’s uniform to let the helpers know this. All uniforms will be distributed on a first come-first served basis. We do not want to use rehearsal time to have uniforms fitted, so please make this a priority next Monday.

See you next week!
