Grant Fischer

Director of Bands

Mr. Fischer is entering his first year as the Director of Bands at Lee's Summit North. A Lee's Summit native, he is excited to return to the town that originally gave him his passion for music and teaching. Previously Mr. Fischer has spent time teaching band in the Smithville, Odessa, and Drexel school districts. Mr. Fischer received his Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2017 and recently completed a master's degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Mr. Fischer has a beautiful wife, Mrs. Katie Fischer, who teaches choir across town at Lee's Summit West. Together they have a dog, Panda, who they enjoy taking with them camping and on other traveling journeys. They also fill their time outside of school at the Kansas City Symphony, Lyric Opera, and participating in curling leagues.

John Johnson

Associate Director of Bands

John Johnson is the associate band director at Lee's Summit North High School where he has taught since 2000. He directs the Concert Band and Jazz Band (which he started) while assisting with the marching band. In addition to his responsibilities with the LSN Band program, John teaches band classes at Benard Campbell MS and East Trails MS every day. John has served as Kansas City Metro District 3 Jazz Vice President and has served as an audition judge and chaperone for the Missouri All-State Jazz and Concert Bands. John holds professional affiliations with the Missouri Band Master’s Association, Missouri Jazz Educators Association, National Association of Music Educators, and The International Trombone Association.

Although John enjoys his work with the students of Lee's Summit, he takes great pride in his family's accomplishments. He is married to Georgia Johnson (1989) and has known her since 8th-grade band. They have two daughters Stephanie and Hannah who have been students' of their dad. John is also an Eagle Scout and enjoys attending his student's Eagle Court of Honor Ceremonies.

Travis Houston

BCMS Band Director/Director of Percussion

Travis Houston is in his seventh year of teaching and is currently starting his third year teaching in the Lee’s Summit School District. Prior to teaching in Lee’s Summit, Mr. Houston was the Assistant Band Director/Percussion Specialist for the Raymore-Peculiar School District from 2016-2020. Mr. Houston graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education with an emphasis in Instrumental Education.

Outside of school, Mr. Houston has performed with various high school choirs in the Kansas City Metro Area and numerous Kansas City ensembles including the Village Presbyterian Symphonic Orchestra, the Lee’s Summit Symphony, and the Kansas City Fountain City Brass Band. Mr. Houston currently holds a studio percussion position for the Allegro Choirs of Kansas City where he has been since 2012 and is currently in his fifth season as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs Rumble Drumline.


Mr. Houston currently lives in Lenexa, KS, and is an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he is currently a district commissioner for the Three Trail District and earned his Eagle Scout in 2008. He is also a member of the National Association for Music Educators, the Percussion Arts Society, the Band Masters Association, and the National Education Association.

Paige Brown

Crimson Colors Color Guard Director

I'm Paige Brown, the head coach at LSN for The Crimson Colors Guard! This will be my 7th year here with this program and I could not be more excited for all the things we have in store for us this season!

Little bit about me! I am a Daycare Director in Lee's Summit and just recently was a Kindergarten teacher in Sedalia! I live in Warrensburg with my husband and 2 fur babies. I have been doing guard since I was in 7th grade. No need to do the math... but I've been at it for a while now . I went to high school at Odessa High School, and I went to College at UCM. I spun all the way through college and I loved every moment of it.

Kerri Craven

Crimson Colors Color Guard Assistant Director

I am Director of Operations for the Kansas City Metropolitan Physician Association. I participated in marching band and winterguard all 4 years of high school and stayed involved in the activity after graduation by teaching at summer camps and working with different guards as well as completing training to become a WGI (Winter Guard International) judge. I also coach the Mustang Guard at BCMS.

I am married and have 2 sons, one just graduated from North and the other will be a Junior this year. My family has hosted 5 foreign exchange students from around the world which helps feed my love of travel. I have been blessed to have travelled to 19 countries and I'm planning a trip to Portugal and France later this year.

Haley Jahn

Crimson Colors Color Guard Assistant

Haley Jahn has been involved with the Lee’s Summit North Crimson Colors for the past 6 years. She had previously spun on the team for all 4 years and 8 seasons of high school, and has been working as a coach for the past 2 since her graduation year of 2020. She is currently a student at the University of Missouri pursuing a degree in Secondary English Education, and spent her freshman year spinning with Marching Mizzou. She is thrilled to continue working with the LSN guard and cannot wait to make lasting memories with the 2022 team!

Reba McNair

Woodwind Assistant

Hello, my name is Reba McNair, I grew up in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. I recently graduated from Northwest Missouri State University where I was a drum major, and played the flute and piccolo. I am a first year Elementary Music Teacher for the R7 Online Academy and Prairie View Elementary. I have a wonderful husband and two sweet cats. I am excited to start my career in the Lee's Summit School District, and glad to be a part of the Lee's Summit North BMB!

Zander Hargrave

Percussion Assistant

Zander Hargrave graduated from the Lee’s Summit School District in 2020 after marching 4 years with the drum line at LSW. Currently, he studies percussion performance at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. In the past he has performed with the Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra as well as one season with the Youth Symphony of Kansas City and performed 3 seasons with the Fountain City Brass Academy. Currently, he plays drum set professionally as a Worship Drummer at Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit
